It’s with great pride that we announce the launch of The Grata Scholars Program! Grata Scholars is a community initiative that’s been in the works for over a year. I’m proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time, partnering with over 30 schools and 800 students - and now we’re ready to take off!
The mission of Scholars is to democratize access to the most in-demand jobs. Investment banking, private equity, and management consulting roles are insanely competitive - they are the highest paying, most sought-after jobs at the top schools. I thought recruiting my sophomore and junior years at Harvard was too early, but the process continues to get earlier and more competitive every year. Now, freshmen (and first year MBA students) are forced to think about early experience to qualify for these opportunities.
Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for the best candidates to get passed over for those who have advantages through pre-established personal networks. I came from a family of scientists who had barely heard of M&A, so I never had the opportunity to intern at my parents’ private equity firm or a family friend’s investment bank. I saw the same pattern with my friends from first-generation backgrounds. I can speak firsthand to how stressful it can feel when you realize the odds are stacked against you.
As we grew Grata and saw our footprint rapidly expand in this world, we realized we could finally make an impact. So, we decided to do something about it.Â
Grata Scholars is a five-week training program to learn what it takes to land and succeed in the world of M&A. I personally teach weekly live sessions covering the fundamentals of dealmaking, business development, diligence, networking, and investment pitching.
By the end of the program, Scholars are not just prepared to land their first PE/IB/M&A job, but ready to be the best among their peers.
To date, we’ve engaged with over 800 students at the most competitive undergrad programs in the country, integrated Grata into the top MBA curriculums, placed dozens of interns at our clients’ firms, and seen our alumni base overwhelmingly succeed.
The next Scholars semester begins on March 1st and we couldn’t be more excited. We’re partnering with over 30 colleges and business schools to gear up for the biggest session yet!
I want to extend thanks to everyone who has made Scholars possible, especially our amazing guest speakers and clients. But my biggest thanks must go to the incredible and impressive students who have helped us grow Grata Scholars. The work ethic, passion, and maturity of these young professionals is nothing short of inspiring. You all have made Grata Scholars a highlight of building Grata!
